About MOFER

We care for collections, research and translate them, and share what we learn.

A collection made public

Our pop-up and partner exhibitions, digital archives, and research bring scattered histories of the Far East into public view.

MOFER is an independent museum initiative in Canada. We collect, preserve, study, and exhibit original archives and cultural objects from the modern Far East.

Far East history shaped the twentieth century, yet many of its stories receive little attention internationally. Our archives, exhibitions, and academic partnerships help people understand that history across cultures.

Our holdings include original photographs, documents, books, periodicals, posters, maps, and unpublished manuscripts. We present them through travelling exhibitions and institutional partnerships.
